The final proposal is ready: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Sardegna/Import/Edificato

Addresses will be treaded in a future import proposal.

About any possible automation please remember that we are not talking about an extremely dense cities like NY and we prefer doing manual check on the existing data. Take example here:

http://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/39970#map=12/39.5760/9.3779

We have many small towns without any data or little data, that can be checked manually. The biggest ones (like Cagliari) will be treated in the end of the import. Another point is that we contacted the sardinian community but many of them aren't postGIS expert or even know what is it, so you can't ask everyone to learn to use that tool (in fact, using an automated methods create far more damages than doing a manual check and upload, if you don't know what are you doing).

The workflow for the import will be like that:

-Open the received .osm
-Download the data from osm
-Check for integration and errors
-Upload the modifications on the downloaded data OSM
-Lastly upload the import data

On this way, there is no need for reprocessing the data.

About number of nodes, the towns are about 5000 to 15000 nodes each, and we will use the "Upload the data in chunks of objects" option on JOSM, with value of 250. This method was already used on previous Veneto imports and worked nicely.

If there are no concern and have a good consensus from this list, we will start distributing the data to the importers. The ready-to-be-uploaded .osm files will be posted on the same page of the wiki.

Thanks for all the feedback, especially Jason Remillard.

Regards,

Leonardo
