The problem there is that RFC822 defines the body as 
   "The  body  is simply a sequence of lines containing ASCII charac-
    ters."
  
where it defines the structure of header fields.

  "Once a field has been unfolded, it may be viewed as being com-
   posed of a field-name followed by a colon (":"), followed by a
   field-body, and  terminated  by  a  carriage-return/line-feed."

So to fix all the unmatched cr/lf's including the body would not be
right.  It may even interfere with the contents of the body if it's
base64 or yenc or some encoded format like that.
