Should there be an entry in the outlog?

no. outlog is only used by smtpds delivering mail.

I have repeated the error 4 times now. I have sent to the invalid user
using a outlook express (I know), Netscape Mail 7.1, Eudora, and a
FirstClass Webclient. All the entries were the same.

what's the response if you do
telnet 66.216.127.84 25
helo something.com
rcpt to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

You are welcome to try from your end to see if you get the return.

can't do it from here. higher level firewall prevents direct smtp
access. will try from home tonight.

klint.
