Anyway, how do people feel about adding to the RCP file (if it doesnt
break smtpds)?
Originating-IP: aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd
It would at least give plugin implementors the info (short of parsing
received headers or the log file).
klint.
or put it in the message itself.
curious.. i don't have docs for smtprcv .. but what is "spamtrap" for?
in the following examples, "blacklist" means "drop at the door with this
message"
how hard would it be to add any/all of these?:
"if rcp contains x number of deleted users, then assume server is
owned/insecure/pink contracted,
and blacklist by ip for y amount of time with message z"
i would expect it to accept the first x (say 3?) and then bounce the
rest. i feel that if someone can't maintain their lists, or make their
customers
do so, then i don't need mail from them.
*or*
"if server has sent x message to more than y non existant users in z
time then blacklist for z time with z message"
i get tons of junk that hits every address on the server.
i also have some bonehead that spam attacks
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
all the time.
how about
"if anything sent e mail to this username, blacklist it for x amount of time".
at this stage of the game, i would rather whitelist servers i like and nuke
the rest
than the inverse.
could also *really* use the functionality to "process anything from this
server straight
into the incoming folder, bypassing all spam filters" ... which would allow
us to tighten
things down a lot. (at the moment my trashfinder caps trasher has to be
turned off, since
one of my clients used all capitals in the variable names for her cart
software, and i have
yet to fix it)
until someone builds spamassasin into it, i think the above would help a lot.
in part because i'd rather drop at the door with a message to the offending
server
than accept it, process it, then call it spam.
at this point i'm just about down for "cc original sender, domain contacts
and postmaster and abuse"
as well.
but then, i'm a firm believer in "if you can't run your crap properly, you
don't belong on the net"
