anyone looked at hMailServer as a possible replacement for IMS?
Still on list, but not using IMS any more for 3 years.
I was going to write my own mailserver but before releasing the first alpha, I started using xmailserver (www.xmailserver.org). It seems to be a good replacement for IMS. It is very stable, uses less memory and has features which the IMS lacks, esp. it can run user scripts at SMTP phases before accepting DATA. It was faster to adapt it then to develop my own stable software.
