I ended up writing a front-end to IMS so that the "Internet" can't reach it
directly. That eliminates almost all problems using IMS (they're mostly in
sending and receiving of mail), and I still use IMS for local mail delivery
(via POP3) and mailing list management (via an old version of Dolist).
If there is anyone out there that would like to use Trash-Finder Gateway
(the e-mail front-end), I'd be happy to provide a copy. But please bear in
mind that I can only provide minimal support for it (not that it needs much
support after setting it up), and in particular I don't promise any
enhancements to it. It also needs to be on a different machine than the IMS
(IMS can't change it's ports from the default ones, which is necessary so
that the gateway gets mail first). I suspect a virtual machine (or an old
antique - mine is a 900 MHZ W2K Pentium) would work fine.
