So Indiana would be another "Linux Distro"? I think the OpenSolaris as a OS should be better in two points:
a) installation b) package managenment There is no need to make it similar to Mac OS X, Linux, or Windows... But i think the points (a) and (b) should be solved with the experiences from any OS, ubuntu, OSX, even solaris... You are trying to please the Linux users, thinking in change the solaris userland... and did you think about the solaris users? We are a community, and we are working in make a better OS to that community, and *maybe* that effort will generate more users... So, the objetive is not change the product, is improve it. Sorry by the english. Leal. 2007/7/12, Frank Van Der Linden <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:

No, actually, it was someone who is normally a Mac user, and has superficial knowledge of the other systems out there, having tried them once or twice. Not an OpenSolaris community member by a long shot. Anyway, my only point here is that I completely agree that we can learn a lot from the user experience that Linux distributions offer, but that the "be more like Linux" talk rubs me the wrong way, and gave a few people I know a negative initial reaction. So, my fear is that it may have this effect on others, but I hope I'm wrong. - Frank _______________________________________________ indiana-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/indiana-discuss
