Very nice pappus..

nice to be able to hold and it not fly away  from the slight breeze
created by breathing ...

I find it very difficult to id lactuca ( very common in disturbed
soils in NY) from sowthistle : Sonchus..
the flowers and leaves are very (   :) irritatingly  similar ) ...
does this mean wait till fall to id the plants?
when the seedheads appear?
