Aha, that's what you meant. The shard info includes all data, also of the
internal administration, and because of the every 10s thing, it'll always
grow. And I can't really split it out per database. Correct?

Is this something that could be reasonably be done by an continuous query?
The count(*) takes about 12 secs, it's OK if it's a little behind, but I'd
rather not have the monitoring UI hang for 12 secs when the user requests
the value.
