Property tax is deductible on your federal taxes, sales tax is not. That portion of money is now going to the Federal Government instead of being used by people here in the state.
The purpose of SILO was not to reduce property, perhaps to stop increasing, but not reduce it. I have not read all 99 counties actual wording on their SILO, but wright county said that it may have the effect of maintaining property tax levels as the need for funding for schools would be supplemented.
