Yes, true. But, I think that we need to analyze your current configuration.
You have an NTMail/3 server (which is an open relay) accepting mail and then
sending it out to the iMS Server. Now, if the SPAMMER sends mail with
multiple recipients (which I would suspect as all SPAM is sent with as many
RCPT clauses as possible to lessen the bandwidth hit on the SPAMMER) then
the NTMail server is really acting as a cascade. It is receiving maybe
hundreds of mails and in turn sending perjaps hundreds of thousands to the
iMS Server...if this is the case then I would expect there to be a great
amount of traffic on the iMS SMTP Server.

Agreed...but the cascading affect is what is killing things. If the iMS
server were receiving the SPAM and rejecting it immediately then the chances
are that the SPAMMER would try another server. Also, chances are your
server (the NTMail Server) is listed as an open relay on some SPAMMER site.
