Hi Howie,

I think I have found the cause of the discrepency between the Log
Analyser and the Stats files - oversize emails. In yesterdays logs the
Analyser reported a volume of 7300509 bytes for a domain, the Stats file
reported a volume of 2458965 bytes for the same domain and in the SMTP
log file there was an OVERSIZE message for the domain of 4841544 bytes.

The only question for me is whether the data is received by the server
before the email is rejected as being oversize. After looking in the
manual that would appear to be the case. (Wouldn't it save a lot of
bandwidth if the protocol supported a 'SIZE' command which would allow
the server to reject the email based on size?). So, given the the server
received the data before rejecting the email I believe that the volume
should be included in the stats file record for the domain as it is by
the log analyser.

Regards,

Brett
