There's nothing 'just' about this war. The only difference between George Bush and Saddam Hussein is that the US government has a style of government similar to Australia (Let's not call it a democracy, it's more Dictatorship by vote). Both believe they are agents of God. Both believe they are untouchable. Both have got their heads so far up the bums they can't see any other truth the the one they've created. George Bush and John Howard are bold faced liars and need to be dragged in from of the international war crimes tribunal to answer to their criminal actions. John Howard also needs to be dragged in front of the supreme court for failure to stand up for the rights of all Australian citizens. These guys are writing laws as they go, and so far they they are getting it all wrong. We're going backwards, not forwards. Iraq is on the brink of a civil/tribal/international war the likes of Vietnam. so I can't see how Messrs Bush and Howard have done any good their. Sure, we've got rid of one tyrant, and created three more in the process (don't forget Tony Blair). The invasion of Iraq was based on a lie. George Bush wanted to get Saddam and any excuse would do, even if there wasn't any real evidence. Mr Bush didn't care whether WMDs existed, and John Howard was so smitten by having the US President ring him on the phone that he didn't care whether what he was told was true, it just wasn't important as long as the US President kept ringing. I'm comfortable with the notion that John Howard was aware that was he was telling Australians was wrong, but didn't care. I Mr Howard was as truly oblivious to the facts as he claims he was, then he has only himself to blame. Three terms in government is more than enough time to make sure that the flow of information works, and as such, any claim that he wasn't told is only because it was politically expedient for him to 'not know'. He only has himself to blame either way. I don't have any love for Saddam Hussein, but in this country, and in the US, if the authorities enter someone's property based on falsified evidence, this is reason enough to have any evidence collected or people imprisoned during the raid declared inadmissible or set free. This begs the question, "On what legal basis does the US have Saddam Hussein detained?" Not that this would bother John Howard, who it seems has little respect for the law. He was quite happy to appoint to the position of Attorney General a man who had knowingly violated the rights of legitimate refugees. Not exactly the sort of moral, unbias character we need in such an important position. Mr Howard's government has be more than happy to leave two Australian's detained by a foreign government without charge. I don't have any love for these two men, but they are Australian's and it's the Australian Governments role to stand up for the rights of it's citizens regardless of their personal feelings towards the people in question. The Australian Government won't bring these guys home because under our own laws they haven't done anything wrong, and they don't want that sort of embarrassment. Instead they are happy to leave them imprisoned without charge by a foreign country. If they were convicted drug traffickers, or pedophiles, the Australian would represent them appropriately, but the only thing these guys have don't is hang out with people the government doesn't like. To my knowledge, they haven't killed anyone, blown anything up, raped children, or trafficked drugs. That, in my humble opinion, just makes John Howard, and his cohorts in government, spineless bastards that deserves to be tried for failure to represent the rights of all Australians. Power corrupts, and Absolute Power corrupts absolutely. Mr Howard and Mr Bush sadly have grown so sure of their own superiority, and so intolerant of others that don't see the world through their own rose tinted glassed that they don't realize that that are fast becoming worse than the bastards they claim to despise. Needless to say, John Howard won't be getting my vote at the next election. ;-] Rodd ------------------------------------------------------ - You are subscribed to the mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] - To unsubscribe, email [EMAIL PROTECTED] and put in the message body 'unsubscribe insights-l' (ell, not one (1)) See: http://nsw.uca.org.au/insights-l-information.htm ------------------------------------------------------
