It is true that an e-mail with a virus can be sent supposedly from a friend.
What Paul is saying is that problems can be avoided with a good virus
checker whose signatures are updated regularly, every day if necessary.

When you received an e-mail with an attachment, NEVER open the attachment
directly from the
e-mail.  Save the attachment to disk and run the virus checker over it
before opening it.
