Hi there,

I'm planning to buy an Inspiron 7000 300MHz 14" to run Red Hat 5.1 on
it. However, I haven't found either in dejanews or in this mailing
list's archive enough hints that it is gonna work. I'd like to know if
anybody has successful experience with Linux on the 7000, specifically:

* is the internal modem compatible? is it V.90?
* can X with, say, 1024x768 16bpp work without extra $$ software?
* would sound work?

I could buy a PCMCIA modem instead of the internal one, but I liked the
idea of a more solid jack port, and with a NIC card and a Jaz adapter I
wouldn't have a spare slot left. Sound is not really needed, but I hate
paying for a device I won't use...

If I'm not sure enough, I'll go with a 3200, but it's a pity because
I've just read a very positive review of Inspiron 7000 and I find the
price very interesting.

I appreciate any comment.
Please reply to my address.
Thanks

Alberto
