Hi Alberto,

I have an Inspiron 7000 running RedHat 5.1 + X.
>From my experience:

1. The internal modem is *NOT* compatible. It is a
    software driven "Winmodem".
2. The 10/100T Cardbus that Dell sells is not currently
    supported.

Therefore, buy 2 PCMIA cards that are supported and have
stable drivers. Do not worry about performance, just support
and stability.

I could not get XF86 to work at all. I wasted too much of my
time and my sysadmin's time trying to configure XF86. My opinion
is do not waste your time doing this. Get Xi Graphics Laptop
Accelerated X server ($160 from LinuxMall). It installs and
works *perfectly*. Superfast at full resolution! If you but this,
you will also need to download updates 4.1.2 numbers 1,3 and 4
(I think). Email me if you have questions.

I don't know about the sound.

Once I got X up and running, I'm very very very happy with
the 7000.
