   Hi,

I just installed Redhat 5.0 on Inspiron 3200 and I can't seem to get it =
to work with 3c589D network card. I tried editing /etc/sysconfig/pcmcia, =
but it didn't work (the boot procedure hangs when starting PCMCIA).

Can anyone give me tips or direction on that? Better yet, does anyone =
know how to get installation via FTP working (with 3c589D card) ?

Hi Luke,

a few days ago I installed Redhat 5.1 on my Inspiron 3200. My network
card is a 3Com 10/100 BaseT 3c575, and to get it working I had to
grab the driver from http://cesdis.gsfc.nasa.gov/linux/drivers/ and
recompile the PCMCIA modules as explained in

http://www.ps.uci.edu/~tomba/inspiron/

Now it is working, except that after every boot I have manually stop
and restart network services. (Does anyone know how to fix this?)
The same might work for you, check out these pages.
