I am waiting for my Redhat and will also be trying to set this up on the
same machine.

I've never installed Linux before and wonder if I should first start on an
older computer vs. my new laptop just for practice.

I understand that other people have gotten it to work except they had to
purchase an X-server software from some other company.

Keep us posted as to your success,

Subject: Inspiron 7000

My Inspiron 7000 arrived yesterday. I was up late last night trying to get
Redhat Linux 5.1 to install.
I would go through fine; installing all the packages but keep freezing up in
the root password dialog. I think it has something to do with the standby
mode, but am not sure.

Has anyone been successful installing Redhat on a similar machine.
        PII 300
        128MB RAM
        8GB disk
        DVD
        ATI Rage Pro 8MB

partition. great product. even created the Linux partitions with it.
