I don't think you have to buy AcceleratedX. I have XFree86 running fine
on my 15" I7K/8MB RAGE LT. Problem is, I guess the LT card must be
pretty new and the driver isn't distributed with Redhat5.2/XFree86?
Anyway, I used the recompiled XF86_Mach64 binary and just followed the
directions from Steve's website. Maybe you need to run through the
process again very carefully. The filepaths can be confusing. But it
only took me about 20 minutes to get the new driver and configuration
installed. No dongles for me!

I have an Inspiron 7000 (15" display, 8MB ATi Rage Pro LT) and have
followed the instructions on Steve Hsieh's page for configuring
XFree86:

When I execute 'startx' the screen flickers and rolls (like when the
vsync is out on a television).  The XF86Config contains the following
'Monitor' section:
