I don't remember the exact number but many PCMCIA modem cards can be
significant power draws (both active and in standby).  I have an HP200LX,
which is a great DOS product that has been replaced by lousy (Win CE)
products.  Anyway, it runs on two AA's.  Most current PCMCIA's drain to
much power to use at all!  Of course two AA's don't add up to a big
lithium battery, but I would check your specs.  Also, note that PC
magazine (no hate mail please) does a reasonable job of giving realistic
run times.
