I've having an issue with installation from an external USB CD-ROM (actually
DVD-ROM). I have an external Plextor PX-716UF connected via USB and when I pop
in the 2008.11 CD I burned (originally from
http://dlc.sun.com/osol/opensolaris/2008/11/osol-0811.iso) it comes up with:

"
GNU GRUB version 0.95 (638 lower / 2096064K upper memory)

[ Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported. For the first word, TAB
lists possible command completions. Anywhere else TAB lists the possible
    completions of a device/filename. ]

grub>
"

and stops. I searched the defect reports and found #3860. The workaround
talks the USB device not being enumerated so the lofi filesystems aren't
mounted. The workaround talks about dumping to a single user shell... however
I have no idea how to do that when I'm sitting in grub.

Any help would be great!

Thanks

Justin
