As a point of comparison, booting from a Live CD with build 110 on the 
same system took:

28s after selecting the boot option from GRUB menu to see SunOS banner
12s before I got a language prompt
3m before the desktop fully loaded

I should also note that the CD spun down and the system paused for about 
30 seconds or so after selecting the input language until a message 
about sendmail complaining about my unqualified hostname came up, after 
that the CD-ROM spun back up and it continued booting.
