At risk of getting off-topic I want to note that non-Sun community members
most probably work for some other company. And that company
may have different goals than contributing to OpenSolaris. So they
(contributors) will have to do it on their own spare time (which is
scarce resource, I can tell you).
I guess what I am trying to say there is no mystery there. People
just have to carefully chose where to apply their energy before they
do so. And it takes [a lot of] time.
