That's entirely understood, and is part of the subtext of my concern.  A 
project of the scope suggested which is relying entirely on 
contributions done in someone's spare time seems likely to struggle to 
achieve its goals; moreso if it's "competing" for the community's 
attention against one not so encumbered.
