Since I included collaboration with existing projects in the proposed scope, I don't see an issue there. It's clear to me that requirements and code would be contributed to various projects as appropriate.
My main concern is that the overall notion of JeOS won't gain much traction quickly if JeOS doesn't garner some standing and obvious presence in the Installation and Packaging community. If the community structure is flexible enough to enable motivated people with JeOS interests to establish our own web/wiki presence and perhaps a jeos-discuss alias, then that approach could address my concerns without the need for a formal project. However, to date, I've only seen a Community->Project structure as I've browsed OpenSolaris.org. I have to believe that there are many functional areas with similar rallying point interests that don't immediately or ever require spinning up their own project with a source repo and all. How does OpenSolaris support these interests?
