As noted, I support this proposal. We've had several private discussions of this proposal over the last few months, and while it obviously overlaps with elements of the IPS, Caiman, and Indiana projects, I view it as having a different focus than any of them, as it is really an application of the former two to a couple of specific problem spaces (and thus will drive requirements on those projects, as noted in the proposal). At this point I view the Indiana project as being more or less complete, at least as it was originally defined, and thus not an appropriate venue. We did discuss the question of whether this should be its own project, or just a separate mailing list under one of the existing projects. I think a separate list is certainly justified based on the traffic levels of caiman-discuss & pkg-discuss. A separate project is justified to me based on marketing the project as something that's of serious interest to the OpenSolaris community (which seems to be the case based on many discussions on many lists). I hope that making it a project will help it attract contributions from current non-contributors to OpenSolaris who have this area as a specific interest.
