Thanks for the responses. I'm trying to install the latest Solaris Community Express.
I'm running Centos 5 installed with atftp. I followed this guide: http://wizard.ae.krakow.pl/~mike/solaris/ There were a couple of things I found out: 1) Though I specify in /etc/dhcp.conf filename "solaris/pxegrub" options grubmenu "solaris/menu.lst" it gets the pxegrub from /tftboot/solaris/pxegrub, but looks at /tftboot/boot/grub/menu.lst for the menu.lst. it's really weird. but i put it in /tftboot/boot/grub anyhow just to get it working. after it grabs the menu.lst, it then tries to download the x86.miniroot, but can't get the entire thing. in /var/log/messages for the atftp server, it shows atftpd[18572]: Requested file to big, increase BLKSIZE therefore, you need to increase the blocksize on teh client, which for me is the pxe client. so i decidced to scrap the idea of using pxe, and put in a cd to get the machine at least connected to the nfs server. now i'm running into other problems. the perc controller and the nic on the dell 2950 is not supported by the solaris 10. gosh..i really wanted to test and bring solaris into our environment b/c of our databases and zfs. i used zfs on sparc and loved it. at my new job, unfortunately, solaris is perceived to be outdated b/c of linux...
