Since it's supposed to be a "major discussion" I have to say that.... we are beaing foold by Intel.....
1. New drivers (at least some of them 1518, 1545) work quite well on 950 - why aren't they supported by intel? 2. GMA 950 on Macbooks has more GL capabilities and runs better! I would like to have the same functionality on Windows. Even if those GL Calls are calculated by CPU i still want them. I have not run any benchmarks to compare 3DA and SW TnL=1 - I run the latter because i find it more convenient and... I hardly play any games anyway Back on performance - since emulating TnL with software (3DA or SW) is done by the CPU I guess having 2 GHz or above is the only option to get decent fps in games that are 4-5 years old (or older - X2 runs like crap in High Quality - It shoud run better IMHO). Based on your RAM or CPU you should tweak in-game settings but in most games based on Quake engine (Quake 3, JA) or HL turning of volumetric shadows is a MUST! Try it with JA - it runs pretty good on my 1,66 C2D in HQ 1280x800 - but with shadows set to 0. Overall I'm pretty satisfied with GMA 950 - I can't run Mass Effect or Bioshock but I have some time for Good Old Games now. System Shock 2 scares me....
