Device ID modification is probably needed, or the MD your trying to
use might not work with your GPU (for instance, you could have a
945gse?)

And MD in XP hasn't done much of anything in terms of performance. You
might be better off with 3DAnalyzer but then again I have yet to make
3DA work with any steam game :/

If you can't run Windows 7, and you REALLY want to play source games,
linux might be a resort...
