IMO the desktop composition is the key, not aero effects...lol..it happens to me when i was playing blackshot...desktop compo off, i\and it was lag like hell with 6 - 10fps...bit with desktop composition on, it run smooth as silk....pretty much this still is the mysteries of windows..
