I see a noticable difference between my 1GB GDDR3 Nvidia Geforce 9600GT and
the exact same card same manufacturer and everything except 512MB (My mate
owns it.) When benchmarked in my PC especially games like Fallout 3 and
Crysis.

oh and tribaljet has a point on bigger VRAM doesnt mean performance...
before go and buy a somewhat 1GB GDDR5 with the thought "oh, 1gb GDDR5, more
power"..rubbish....
most GPU nowadays cant handle 1gb VRAM yet...and i mean the mid range
cards..
basic for GPU buying guide, make sure the GPU can support the extra VRAM...

for example..the HD 5670 / GT240 with 1gb GDDR5 is a rubbish product juz for
commercial act / brag from the company...
as in fact their GPU cant produce enough power to process that much..
except for HD 4870, 4870 x 2, GT460, GT 480, etc..etc...which IS a high end
GPU which can in fact can support and give boost when pair up with 1gb or
more VRAM...
