The thing is that it lowers the fps of all games, since it draws power directly from the cpu. Though... I've heard about an improved version of that chip, one that had a small cpu powering the added graphics, maintaining the 60fps for the games that run at that pace, as well as the 30fps ones, good ones like final fantasy series, and all others. Anyway, I'm running my ps2 slim without any modchip because I'd only use it if there was a usb version, but I think there isn't any :S but I do improve my picture quality by using a rgb cable instead of the composite one that ships with the console.
