lol..i not gonna take back my word on vista... but tribaljet do have a point..
as im not gonna take back my words, i do have words to back it up :) Vista is still a bad OS imo, BUT some of the features do really make it worth step for microsoft, like the ability to handle alternative memory for cache, readyboost which exist starting in Vista, do really improve performance of everyday computing (mostly noticeable in browsing and some light - medium resource usage games)...not to mention better VM management resides in Vista kernel...at the same time the kernel security of Vista which 7 inherits is far more superior that XP despite having a larger footprint, and that base kernel is applied in 7 which till now still secure for most non massive damaging malicious software...DirectX 10, vista brought it when first launch and that my friend is no doubt a revolution to PC gaming, the effects are much real, the API it selfs is much faster than DiectX 9 API..the same API applied in 7 where DirectX 11 are not so much different than DirectX 10, but added DirectCompute and other stuffs making it better..again it's all starting from vista no doubt... the thing about Vista that i do not like is the way the indexing service behave..it is still indexing even users are using the system, even on background so users cant really notice it consumes somewhat a large portion of resource, which imo the main cause of slowdowns in vista, oh and dont forget the indexing service start working on indexing files the moment the system start and that is even before u login to desktop..ok, other things again, despite having a better and more secure kernel than XP, other parts of Vista is just nonsense, ActiveX and Group Policy security is hackable and do have it's loop holes compared to 7 (again 7 is far more superior that vista no doubt)..also as far as DirectX 10 onwards is a great stuff, the fact that they remove 3D sound / A3D / EAX support is just disappointing.. let's talk about GUI, no doubt Aero is a good step in windows GUI, i have no problem with Aero, but the fact that Vista GUI is messed up and somewhat clotted is undeniable to me, but that's just me, and again 7 win with more cleaner interface, but still using the same Aero engine as Vista did, although they did modify 7 window rendering to make it more efficient and resource friendly.. oh and dont forget the readyboot(correct me if im wrong about this service name) service have it advantage on replacing XP old prefetch system, but in Vista, there are some flaws until they fixed it in 7, readyboot clutters the startup cache too much that the hard drive have a hard time loading up most of the startup item and other services as well... there are soo much positive things that i may miss to say, but there are also negative things that i dont like about vista, despite saying that, it's all up to users opinion...as for me, again, im not gonna take my words that bashing Vista earlier, but i have made my point above ... :) i am apologize but that's my opinion... :) On Thu, Dec 30, 2010 at 10:34 AM, tribaljet <[email protected]> wrote: > And what are your thoughts on the matter? > > On 30 Dez, 18:33, lolattheotherguy <[email protected]> wrote: > > lol no offense but that sounds absolutly "end-user" talk.
