Hmm. So this isn't as simple as I originally hoped. Thanks for the
/etc/ppp/ip-up hint, I'll see what I can figure out and let the list know. I
was doing some things with static routes yesterday and had some luck, but
it's difficult because the routes go away when the ppp interface comes down.
I'm a little surprised this is as difficult as it is in OS X. Seems like it
wouldn't be all that unusual.

Unfortunately, not an option. I used to be with a different cell phone
company that had TAP, but everything else about that company was terrible.
So I went with a different company that has great service but no TAP before
I realized that OS X isn't smart enough to switch internet connections when
routes are unreachable, only when an interface goes down. Very annoying.
