Not surprising.  Most customer service people at cell service providers
don't have the knowledge to answer technical questions.  You probably also
wouldn't want to ask those same people how to reconfigure your WAP gateway,
either.

I'd suggest you call and see if you can either talk with a business rep, who
usually has access to engineers, or ask to speak directly with a business
engineer.

My provider is US Cellular (USCC) and I've spoken many times with engineers
regarding service issues and feature requests.

I know that two years ago Cingular also offered it.

This might be part of the problem.  For USCC, TAP paging is part of their
unlimited text messaging product, and you wouldn't know it by reading any of
their literature.  Only by our request and talking to an engineer did our
rep learn about the service.
