See also the German national anthem, in which "Deutschland ueber alles" was intended to mean "consider German unification above your local power", not "Germany should rule the world", although it's no stretch to assume that Hitler favoured the latter interpretation. The current anthem consists only of the less easily reinterpreted third verse.
