I've tested what you've said and

When the adapter is connected to vin:
5v output pin is measured as  5.03 and 5.04 (changes frequently)
and 3.3v output pin is measured as 3.32 and 3.33 (changes frequently)

When the adapter is connected to 3.3v:
5v output pin is measured as  4.52 (stable)
and 3.3v output pin is measured as 5.19 and 5.2 (changes frequently)
