Or you could change the X keyboard model. For example, on some Logitech
keyboards
Option "XkbModel" "logicdp"
should map many of the worthless[*] multimedia keys to some XF86* keysyms.
[*] I'd like _less_ keys on a keyboard, not more. Ditch the numpad, please.
