AFAIK under xgl programs still render to textures that the composition
manager must texture map where it wants, so it does not remove any potential
syncing issues. Only hardware support for "live textures" or the addition of
clipping areas and viewing transformations (in hardware, dri or whatever)
for windows that need to have well-synced access to the hardware can provide
that that I can quickly think of.
