Yes it works well in fullscreen and even when I put it in a frame it keeps
the intended dimensions unless I resize the frame while playing (then it
stretches to match frame-size regardless of aspect ratio..).
I would prefer it in a floating window because that gives me the freedom to
resize it independently of the other frames and drag it anywhere I like -
again independently of my carefully arranged frame-layout. :-)

Too bad, I'd really love that option, not only for transients.
To me it would be the "missing link" from ion to an "old fashioned" WM like
pwm, blackbox or whatever. Whenever an app doesn't play well with ion
I could just open it in a floating window and it'd be fine.

There are many apps that would finally become "usable as intended" in ion
that way. First off all those audio/media-players like XMMS, gqmpeg,
snackAmp and so forth. Also the gimp, all those instant messenger apps
(jabber, gaim, icq etc.), gkrellm and I bet many more that I can't think
of right now.

I have no idea how much effort it would be to implement such a thing
but the optimal solution (IMHO) would be a magic kludge that matches on
the windows you want floating and, well, makes them floating, on whatever
kind of workspace they happen to pop up.

Just my 2 cents. :-)
What do the others think?
