These are playlists I created in either my iPhone or iPad from songs already on 
the device. I just used the "new playlist" and added songs....

I don't want to prevent anything. I want the playlists I create in my 
iPhone/iPad to show up in iTunes and then sync to whatever devices I choose. I 
want this to happen automatically, and not to have to manage my music manually. 
I can certainly recreate the playlist on iTunes, but it's a pain if I forget or 
if I have several or larger ones.
