I just created a playlist “Fred" on my iPhone and added 5 songs to it and 
within a couple of seconds the playlist appeared in iTunes and had the selected 
songs in it.

The Music app on the iPad is hideous, so it took several minutes to launch and 
load and then load the list of playlists, but the playlist was there when I 
finally got it loaded.
