*Hi Jeff,*

I'm Android-based, but this ought to be possible on iPhone as well, either
natively or through a third-party memory managing app.

Your system should have a built-in memory cleaning app, (usually under
System Tools), that will not only report memory usage by apps, working
memory, but also offer a "clean-up", (or so it is on Android).

Your running apps use up memory for temporary files, and unless you dismiss
them when not in use, not only is the app using up some amount of the CPU,
but the temp files are taking up main memory, so disabling them selectively
helps, as of course, does eliminating those you haven't used in a year.

Another suggestion, is to install a micro SD card, should you have that
option, and have your apps, (such as for video taking, audio recording, and
such), deposit their acquired data onto the card. Doing so, also allows a
simple transfer of that data to your computer by removal of the card
thereby bypassing AppleTunes, as you just plug it into your computer and
instantly get to see the files, move them, delete, etc.

Also, (at least on Android), with an auxiliary memory chip like that, you
might be able to install onto it, less-frequently-used apps, (or maybe move
them over), such that your device's main memory frees up a bit.

Let us know if these options are viable on your device.

Best,

Daniel
