After some fiddeling, I found out how to install the firmware. A recap here, so it gets archived:
- Create MS DOS bootdisk
- Burn the correct firmware to CD (or USB disk or something, it's too large for a floppy disk)
- Boot from the bootdisk
- Run fdisk to create a DOS partition
- Reboot
- Boot from the bootdisk
- format c:
- Copy the downloaded firmware to the harddisk (copy *.* c:)
- Run setup.bat
- Wait.
- Done.
But now I can't get a connection to the card either. What I tried:
$ ipmitool -I lanplus -H 192.168.1.101 -U ADMIN -v channel info
Password:
IPMI LAN send command failed
Get Auth Capabilities error
IPMI LAN send command failed
IPMI LAN send command failed
Get Auth Capabilities error
Error issuing Get Channel Authentication Capabilies request
Error: Unable to establish IPMI v2 / RMCP+ session
Unable to Get Channel Info
$
With my limited knowledge of these things, I'd say the card isn't responding at all. The supplied IPMIView20 (Java stuff) from SuperMicro can't seem to find the card either. I'm at a loss here, what can I try?
Very verbose output:
$ ipmitool -I lanplus -H 192.168.1.101 -U ADMIN -vv channel info
