Hi,

we use Ubuntu 6.06 (LTS) on our Fujitsu-Siemens RX300-S2 Servers. I'm
trying to setup IPMI at the moment.

For the beginning I'm just interested in getting it run on the OpenIPMI
Kernel Interface and particularly I want the temperatures (there's a
problem with the cooling system in the server room). Problem is the
difference in output, between 'ipmitool sdr' and 'ipmitool sensor':

ipmitool sdr:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/ipmitool-1.8.9/src# ./ipmitool sdr
Systemboard | 31 degrees C | ok
CPU0 | 36 degrees C | ok
CPU1 | 36 degrees C | ok
Ambient | 27 degrees C | ok
Main +12V | 12.13 Volts | ok
...

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/ipmitool-1.8.9/src# ./ipmitool sensor
Systemboard | na | degrees C | na | na | 1.000
    | 6.000 | 50.000 | 55.000 | na

CPU0 | na | degrees C | na | na | 1.000
    | 6.000 | 85.000 | 90.000 | na

CPU1 | na | degrees C | na | na | 1.000
    | 6.000 | 85.000 | 90.000 | na

Ambient | na | degrees C | na | na | 1.000
    | 6.000 | 37.000 | 42.000 | na

Main +12V | na | Volts | na | na | 11.244
    | na | na | 12.945 | na

...

I'm new to IPMI and ipmitool and I couldn't find any documentation on
the values in the output. But I can't figure out why I'm not getting
sensor readings when issueing 'ipmitool sensor'. Aren't the values in
'ipmitool sensor' supposed to be the same as in 'ipmitool sdr'? I'm
sorry if this is some kind of misunderstanding on my side.

I'm using ipmitool 1.8.2, as it is in Ubuntu; but for reference I also
compiled 1.8.9 but that version shows the same behaviour. Kernel in
Ubuntu 6.06 is 2.6.15.

Thanks in advance for every answer...
