I use ipmitool mostly via lanplus and the sdr temperature readings are the same you see via the iRMC Web Server or the ssh interface. However the ipmitool sensor command gives the following errors: # ipmitool -I lanplus [...] sensor list Error reading sensor Systemboard (#01) Error reading sensor CPU 1 (#02) Error reading sensor CPU 2 (#03) Error reading sensor FBD-1A (#04) Error reading sensor FBD-2A (#05) Error reading sensor FBD-1B (#06) Error reading sensor FBD-2B (#07) Error reading sensor FBD-1C (#08) Error reading sensor FBD-2C (#09) Error reading sensor FBD-1D (#0a) Error reading sensor FBD-2D (#0b) Error reading sensor Ambient (#0c) Error reading sensor Main +12V (#0d) Error reading sensor Main -12V (#0e) Error reading sensor Main +5V (#0f) ...
Next point is, that I cannot get sol to work with the iRMC: ipmitool -I lanplus [...] -v sol activate This BMC does not support IPMI v2 / RMCP+ Error: Unable to establish IPMI v2 / RMCP+ session Error: No response activating SOL payload So in this case I use the iRMC ssh interface to get a serial console. This works, but reliable only at 9600. The chassis power on/off stuff also works, so in summary one can handle the nodes remotely, although some points are missing.
