Yes, we understand that you see "MUST" as something important here. > Unless we know what specific router, what specific router card, and what > specific network interface on the card cannot support Redirect, there is > no case I can see yet for changing MUST implement to SHOULD implement. No, no no, you are missing the point. Redirects are harmful to the hosts and the routers. Cisco can't make a router that does them correctly so we had to disable them for ipv6. Nothing you can say here will convince me that your BU or any of the other BUs at cisco will learn to do the right thing. If Cisco can't get it right, what hope does a smaller vendor have? You never responded to my private note to you on this topic, which tells me understanding and learning from this damage is not part of your role here. - Jared > > Hemant > > -----Original Message----- > From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of > Alain Durand > Sent: Wednesday, August 25, 2010 10:59 PM > To: Christopher Morrow > Cc: Thomas Narten; deployment prevention; Pekka Savola; > [email protected] > Subject: Re: Router redirects in Node Requirements document > > > On Aug 25, 2010, at 9:11 PM, Christopher Morrow wrote: > >> >> So, back to: >> 1) should implement redirect >> 2) should NOT enable by default >> >> right? > > This is what I'm after. > > - Alain. > -------------------------------------------------------------------- > IETF IPv6 working group mailing list > [email protected] > Administrative Requests: https://www.ietf.org/mailman/listinfo/ipv6 > -------------------------------------------------------------------- > -------------------------------------------------------------------- > IETF IPv6 working group mailing list > [email protected] > Administrative Requests: https://www.ietf.org/mailman/listinfo/ipv6 > -------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------- IETF IPv6 working group mailing list [email protected] Administrative Requests: https://www.ietf.org/mailman/listinfo/ipv6 --------------------------------------------------------------------
