----------------------------------------------------------- New Message on Irish Fencing Forum
----------------------------------------------------------- From: Captain_Owen Message 11 in Discussion I see somewhat of a paradox developing. The IAFF want to have as big an Irish Open as possible and encourage people into the sport. The IAFF are going to sizeably reduce numbers in the Irish Open and discourage those beginners as of yet unprepared to make a sizeable financial investment in equipment becuase they cannot enter one of the biggest competitions of the year. UCD have always had a policy of providing necessary equipment to its beginners thus not immediately excluding those who are not willing or able to pay for fencing equipment. I can state now categorically that we will not be able to provide breeches for all our members for the forseeable future. As a committee, you are excluding the vast majority of every university club memebers in Ireland and hence the majority of fencers in Ireland. I think a little more pragmatism or a least a clarification of what the IAFF goals are in relation to the Irish Open would be helpful. ----------------------------------------------------------- To stop getting this e-mail, or change how often it arrives, go to your E-mail Settings. http://groups.msn.com/IrishFencingForum/_emailsettings.msnw Need help?
