RE: Real Secure Error, Need Help !

Ayman,

First, I would try to load RealSecure 3.2 Console and see what happens (make sure you make a copy of your iss.key and any policies you have created).  If you get the same errors, there are two possible solutions to you problem.  Try doing these:

1. From a command prompt, change to the \WINNT\SYSTEM32 directory where atl.dll is registered.

2. Unregister the dll: regsvr32 -u atl.dll .If it unregisters successfully, then you should see a confirmation message box. (If regsvr32.exe is not in your PATH, do a "find" to locate its location)

3. Rename the old atl.dll.

4. Copy the atl.dll from the console’s setup directory to \WINNT\SYSTEM32.

5. Register the dll: regsvr32 atl.dll. If it registers successfully, then you should see a confirmation message box.

6. Re-run the console installation.

If you still see errors, then try these steps:

1. After installing, manually register the offending dlls. by using the regsvr32.exe command on each dll.

2. Change to the RS installation directory, C:\Program Files\ISS\RealSecure 3.2, then unregister each dll.

        regsvr32 Action.dll

        regsvr32 PolicyDoc.dll

        ...

I have a problem installing Real Secure; and I hope you can help me to over come this problem.

 

The configuration that I am using s/w and h/w as follow:

 

PIII 450, 128 MB Ram, 6 GB HD Compaq

WinNT4 server and SP4 as recommended

Real Secure 3.1

Internet Explorer 4

 

I was logon as administrator

There is no other software else installed

 

During the installation of of both the engine and the console I have received the following error message:

'Unable to register the c:\program file\ISS\Real Secure 3.1\Action.dll'

'Unable to register the c:\program file\ISS\Real Secure 3.1\PolicyDoc.dll'

'Unable to register the c:\program file\ISS\Real Secure 3.1\RsAssetDb.dll'

'Unable to register the c:\program file\ISS\Real Secure 3.1\RSpluginExplorer.dll'

'Unable to register the c:\program file\ISS\Real Secure 3.1\RSPlugin.dll'

'Unable to register the c:\program file\ISS\Real Secure 3.1\RSActionPicker.dll'

 

The installer has replied that there is a problem in the installation, however it will be resolved after restart the machine. BUT, after rebooting the machine I received another error that say initializing of DLL c:\winnt\system32\ociw32.dll failed. The process is terminating abnormally'. If the error remained I have to consult read me file.

 

Surprisingly, I found the service is up and running. Also, I was able to run the application. BUT, if I choose any action from the program menu, the program terminated with no notice.

 

Please advise, and thank you in advance for your help and cooperation.
