I think its probably the tweak to the pre-existing test leading to the
impression that it is converted to Core on expiration, whereas the test does an
explicit toCore call to make that happen within another general expiriation
test.
The test could presumably have been a unit test of the conversion process,
which would have been clearer and nicer since it would been more targetted and
would run during the PR build.
